If you ever wondered what it’s like to be a dj in a crowd full of people, look no further than this Boiler Room set from one of my favorite producers, Kaytranada. As a fellow dj & producer, this video is beautiful to me, because you can literally see all of the hassles one has to go through in a night. This set is only 45 minutes or so mind you, but Kaytranada STILL has to deal with girls incessantly vying for his attention by dancing way too close to the equipment and in his personal space. There are people trying to hold physical conversations with the dj over the loud music…as he’s trying to mix the music. There are others that physically hold, grope, hug and practically assault Kaytranada as he’s working (He constantly has to give drunk party-goers the “Back up Bruh” speech). Of course, there are the random revelers that attempt to touch the equipment and or grab the microphone. Lastly, but most present are those who are just lingering in the “booth” area instead of dancing, because they are trying to look cool or be seen…by everyone…at all times. Moral of the story = Dj’ing is hard work n its own…but its extremely difficult to rock a party when people are physically in your face. So let the dj work…and enjoy yourself!
